ONEIROMANCE is the winner of Switchback Books' 2008 Gatewood Prize, chosen by Patty Seyburn. Brandi Homan is Editor-in-Chief of Switchback Books. The pair will be joined by Jill Summers and Susie Kirkwood, award-winning puppeteers and audio zinesters, as well as Paper Airplane Pilots, who've been called "bright and buoyant" despite their song about Hitler's lover Eva Braun. It all goes down on Sunday, October 12th at the Hideout (1354 W Wabansia). 7pm sharp, $5 at the door. Kathleen Rooney, author of READING WITH OPRAH (University of Arkansas) and several collaborations with poet Elisa Gabbert, is a founding editor of Rose Metal Press. ONEIROMANCE, which Sidney Wade called "rare and wonderful," is her first single-author collection of poetry. Along with Hanna Andrews and Becca Klaver, Brandi Homan founded Switchback Books in 2006, and is the author of a chapbook, TWO KINDS OF ARSON (dancing girl press). Simone Muench says HARD REDS is "gunslinger-sure . . . like eating electricity in a red dress." Switchback Books is a feminist press publishing poetry by women. Our definition of "women" is broad and includes transsexual, transgender, genderqueer, and female-identified individuals. Switchback Books publishes two books a year, one of which is the winner of the Gatewood Prize for a first book of poetry by a woman aged 18 through 39. Previously published authors include Monica de la Torre, Peggy Munson, and Caroline Noble Whitbeck.
